Estimulação cerebral profunda como alternativa no tratamento da depressão maior e do transtorno obsessivo-compulsivo

Abstract

A Depressão Maior (DM) e o Transtorno Obsessivo-Compulsivo (TOC) são doenças que afetam milhares de pessoas ao redor do mundo. Muito embora sejam doenças com alta incidência, o tratamento ainda continua sendo discutido, tendo em vista a existência de grupos refratários ao tratamento medicamentoso tradicional. Nesse contexto, a Estimulação Cerebral Profunda (ECP) tem sido aplicada como alternativa de tratamento, tanto para TOC quanto para DM, em casos não resolutivos às técnicas conservadoras farmacológicas e psicoterapeuticas. Nesse trabalho, propomos uma revisão integrativa sobre o potencial da neuroestimulação no tratamento da DM e do TOC descritos na literatura cientifica ao longo dos últimos 22 anos. Destacamos os pontos positivos e negativos ECP e discutimos as perspectivas futuras no tratamento de outras doenças psiquiátricas. Utilizando-se os descritores “estimulação cerebral profunda”; “Transtorno obsessivo-compulsivo” e “depressão maior” nas plataformas PubMed e Google Scholar, encontramos um total de 18 ensaios clínicos randomizados relatando um total de 460 pacientes com DM ou com TOC.  Por fim, a ECP é uma terapia eficaz no tratamento de DM e TOC.
